A popular location and one which is well worth a visit is the historical walled city of Chester. This delightful city is steeped in history and the best way to explore your surroundings is by foot. Why not have the assistance of a guided tour? Be sure to visit the Cathedral and Roman Amphitheatre and there is always the option of a boat trip along the River Dee. This wonderful city will inspire and charm.
Another fantastic place to visit would be the picturesque and historic market town of Nantwich found in the heart of the lush Cheshire countryside. For many years its fashionable shops, pubs, restaurants and places of particular historical interest have maintained its fine reputation. You could experience a private tour of Arley Hall and Gardens with Lord Ashbrook. This enchanting property has been in Lord Ashbrook's family since the fifteenth century and is a place of enormous character, charm and interest. The gardens are amongst the finest in Britain and are vibrant, varied and charming. The hall is an impressive example of a Victorian country house built in the Elizabethan style.
Grand Tourist would also strongly recommend a trip to Tatton Park; it is just beautiful. It is one of the largest and most popular visitor attractions in the North West. Why not take a picnic and enjoy the surroundings of the park and gardens but watch out for the deer who have been resident here since 1920!
If you are a car enthusiast, then why not visit Oulton Park. The race circuit is built into the natural contours of the Cheshire countryside. The circuit has always been popular with fans due to the fantastic picturesque Cheshire scenery and the circuit is home to the annual round of the British Touring Cars Championship.
For the adventurer in you, why not experience Falconry at Peckforton Castle. Set in the Peckforton Hills, the castle offers a range of activities with the birds of prey including hands-on experiences. The castle is also home to "off road" Land Rover experiences and wonderful grounds.
Alternative places to visit would include Capesthorne Hall; a distinctive Jacobean style house with magnificent hall and gardens, Beeston Castle; known as the formidable 'castle of the rock' - you can climb to the top of the crag and experience incredible views over the Pennines and Welsh mountains or Cholmondeley Castle; a romantic castle from the 19th century which stands high over a lake. All have a particular significance in Cheshire history. The choice is yours!
For food and wine lovers, then the Champagne Bar on the 5th floor of the Abode Hotel in Chester should not be missed or for a more traditional setting, afternoon tea at the Jacobean Crewe Hall Hotel in the stunning surroundings of the Sheridan Lounge would be lovely.
