Grand Tourist
header_about.jpg
LONDON -

London was the departure point for the British Grand Tourists. It was here in the magnificent town houses of Piccadilly and Mayfair that farewell parties were held for these young travellers. Strolling through St James’, along Piccadilly and Regent Street you can still get a feel for how the young travellers must have felt in the days leading up to their exciting journey.
In fact a trip to London should probably start with the British Museum. After all, if it wasn’t for the voracious appetites of the Grand Tourists when it came to purchasing antiquities on their travels, the Museum as we know it and its collection would probably not exist today. The Museum houses an incredible collection of Greek and Roman sculpture and marble and an amazing collection of Egyptian Mummies and Tomb artefacts.
