GENEVA -
Geneva is an interesting and frequently over-looked city, nestling on the shores of Lake Geneva. Just an hour and a half from most UK airports, it is an unusual and fascinating weekend destination. You’ll need Swiss francs in your pocket, but it’s good to have some euros too (after all the French ski slopes are only an hour away).
There are many luxury hotels to choose from around the edge of the lake. I’d recommend the Noga Hilton with it's stunning views of ‘le jet d’eau’, Geneva’s famous water fountain shooting high up into the sky. From here you can walk along the lake to the old town, just on the other side of the Mont Blanc Bridge.
If you don’t feel like walking there are regular boat services across the lake, providing an excellent panoramic view of the city.
